Obituary of Nancy Knickerbocker

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Knickerbocker, 70 of Melrose, died of breast cancer on October 13th at home with her family.  Nancy, daughter of Jenny (Paul) and Henry Roe, was born and lived most of her life in Melrose. She was a loving mother who enjoyed nothing more then spending time with her children and being a fun mom and grandma.  She also enjoyed outdoors activities like kayaking, gardening or just walking dogs. She worked at RPI and the NYS Bar Association where she easily made friends which she kept for life. She was active in her church, participating in the choir and volunteering for numerous community organizations. She delivered meals on wheels and supported animal welfare charities. Everyone who knew her will remember her distinctive laugh; if you couldn't find Nancy in a crowd, just wait 5 minutes, you’d hear her laughter.

She is predeceased by her husband Kevin Knickerbocker. She is survived by her children Kristin Knickerbocker (Jeff Bak) of Nassau NY and Kyle (Tracey) Knickerbocker and their daughter Kayleigh of Melrose NY. She is also survived by an uncle, 3 aunts, 3 nieces, 2 nephews and many beloved cousins.

A graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Schaghticoke at 3:00 pm on Friday October 20th.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad or the Melrose Fire Department.
