Mrs. LaPointe was a wonderful, wise and caring person. I can hear her distinct voice in my head right now.
I’ll never forget my first interaction with her. She was doing roll call for the first class at CCHS … it was a large class and I’d made the mistake of sitting way in the back. I just knew she was going to mess up my name as every other teacher did the first time they saw it, so I was dreading have to correct her from the back of the room.
She said it correctly!
Flabbergasted, I went up to her after that first class to ask her how she was able to be the first teacher ever to get it right.
She explained that she’d reviewed the class list the night before, didn’t want to screw it up, so found another teacher who taught her how to say it.
Another time I was in their family pool with her and good friend Jon, her son, and she saved me from embarrassment yet also taught me a lesson with an incredibly thoughtful comment.
What a wise and caring person!
