Hyams, 76, formerly of Brooklyn NY and Lakeville PA., passed on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. Born and educated in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Bessie Rosen Lefkin and the stepdaughter of Lillian Lefkin of New City, NY. Shiela was fun loving, spunky, and free spirited, with a heart bigger than her size. She impacted all of those who knew her. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, TOPS, the Hamlin Senior Center and The City of Hope. She enjoyed Bingo, the casino, cruising and traveling. Beloved wife of Jerome, devoted mother of the late Steven (late, Marsha) Hyams, Beth (Charles) Cino, Mitchell (Jennifer) Hyams and Robin (Jay) Kirschner, sister of David (Ellen) Mandel and the late Martin (Florence) and late Arthur Lefkin, cherished grandmother of Andrew, Matthew, Aidan, Evan and MacKenzie, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park. Burial will be in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, NY.
