Reginald Ray Daniels, Sr., “Reggie” 56, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Born on August 7, 1969, in Troy, NY, Reggie was the beloved son of Jerry and Beulah Daniels. He was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1987, and continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College.
In his early years, Reggie attended Fifth Avenue A.M.E Zion Church.
Reggie was known for his popular presence, quick wit, and fun-loving spirit. He brought laughter and light to those around him and will be remembered for his vibrant personality and the joy he shared so freely.
For more than 20 years, Reggie dedicated himself to his work as a CDTA bus driver in Troy. He took great pride in his career and cherished the connections he made along the way. His coworkers and passengers alike remember him not only for his reliability but for the joy, laughter, and kindness he brought to each day on the job.
Outside of work, Reggie found his greatest happiness in spending time with his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic sports fan who loved baseball, basketball, and football. He cheered faithfully for his beloved Dodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Known for his playful nature and infectious laughter, Reggie was often the heart of every gathering, the one who kept everyone smiling.
Reggie’s love and legacy live on through those who knew and cherished him.
In addition to his parents, he leaves to treasure his memory two sons, Reginald Daniels, Jr., and Rasean Daniels; one granddaughter, Imani Daniels; one sister, Tanya Daniels, one nephew, Micah Daniels. He is also lovingly remembered by his god sisters, Jennifer Tyson-Diaz, Kristen Holmes-Philo, Tanisha Rhodes-Gang, and Natalia Pompey; godparents, Jasper & Shirley Holmes; three aunts, Joyce Daniels, Darlene Sanders and Mary York; two uncles, Luther Sanders and Robert Sanders, as well as a host of cousins and many dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Homegoing service at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 Fifth Avenue, Troy, NY
Interment will follow the Church service in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
