Obituary of Geri Madden-Farnsworth
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Geri Madden-Farnsworth announce her passing. Geri was the youngest child of Dr and Mrs. Alfred L. Madden of Albany, NY. She lived an exciting life. At age 10, speaking no foreign languages she went to boarding schools in Europe. She emerged adding fluent French and German to her repertoire. Eventually graduating from the Chelsea College of Art in London with a degree in graphic design, and an MFA in photography. It was then that she returned home, but not to the New York of her birth but rather to an LA that was currently changing the world.
Geri lived her life by principles like Art for Money and looked down on wasteful people who needed more than one car. Her wimbledon white 67 mustang, Smasher was all she ever needed throughout her life. Others were just wasteful.
Some people work for a living, Geri was an artist. One of her favorite experiences was working with George Lucas at Warner Brothers where she designed the theater poster for his first film THX 1138. Never being one to let grass grow under her feet she joined the LA art and advertising scene holding positions like creative director for magazines like Teen and Tigerbeat. She partied with artists and musicians including the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd. Her salad years culminated with her marriage to the love of her life Gene Farnsworth.
Being fearless she reinvented her life. She graduated from the California Culinary Academy as President of her class. She then combined her passion for food and Photography, by founding Foto Finish Food, a renowned food styling company.
She was well loved and remembered with smiles and tears by friends and family alike. To sum it up, a life well lived, to the beat of Cyndi Lauper’s song Girls Just Want to Have Fun, AND SHE DID.
