



Obituary of Carole V. Collins
Carole Vera Detmar Collins, 80, of the Town of Malta, formerly of Staten Island, NY, beloved wife for 57 years to George J. Collins, Jr., peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Born in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Vera Johnson Detmar and was a graduate of Curtis High School in Staten Island, Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, earning her AAS in Social Work and SUNY Albany, where she earned her BS in Social Work.
Mrs. Collins retired from Key Bank in Albany, where she had been an Executive Administrative Assistant to various Vice Presidents’.
Carole enjoyed and was accomplished in sewing, quilting and crafts. She enjoyed Social Work, especially assisting those with Down Syndrome very rewarding but did not making a career out of it. Carole was a woman of strong faith and worshipped at the Jonesville United Methodist Church.
Beloved wife to George J. Collins, Jr., devoted mother of Suzanne C. “Sue” Leece and John J. Collins, sister of Albert (Pat) Detmar, Jr., cherished grandmother of Emily, Julia and Sam Leece, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 12:30 P.M. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Interment will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, in memory of Carole V. Collins.
The Collins family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to Pastor Young Jae Jee and the Jonesville United Methodist Church community, their neighbors and also to her caregivers to include the angels from Hospice, for their care, love and support provided to Carole and her family.
