Charles L. Barringer, Jr. "Saratoga Charlie" Obituary

Charles L. Barringer, Jr., “Saratoga Charlie” 86, of Halfmoon, beloved husband for 62 years to Ann Marie Brady Barringer, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by and in the loving care of his family at home on 29th, March 2025.


Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Mary Iannacito Barringer and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. He attended Texas A & M before joining the U.S. Army in 1957 where he was honorably discharged and continued his service in the reserves until 1965. 


Mr. Barringer retired after 45 years of service from the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation based out of Troy.  


Charlie loved spending time with his family, going to his children and grandchildren’s games, school events and celebrations. He loved horses and Saratoga race track, especially opening day. Charlie was an owner in both Castle Village Farms and Pinnacle Farms.  


One of Charlie’s favorite past times was golfing at Fairways of Halfmoon on Tuesdays with his NIMO buddies, where he got his first hole in one at age 70. 


 He was a member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450, and a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.


Beloved husband of Ann Marie, devoted father to Charles (Ronna) Barringer, Cheryl Barringer, Susan (Michael) Cox, Karen (Michael) Orchanian, Anthony (Dawn) Barringer, Michelle (Robert) Miller Jr.  and Lynn (Jason) Connors. Cherished “Poppy” to Ashleigh (James) DeVoe, Michael (Caitlin) Cox, Lee, Alyssa, Shane, Briann, Samantha and JB Barringer, Nicholas, Matthew and Kate Orchanian,  Reilly, Brady and Anna Miller and Trevor, Ryan, Lauren and Owen Connors. Adored Great Grandfather to Aubrie and Kellan DeVoe and Lennox and Beckett Cox.  Brother of Shirley (Bob)  Putnam. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Thursday, April 3, 2025  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 and to the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward’s Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd. in Clifton Park.
