Lorraine Capogna Sweet, (Lorrie to some) was born on July 25, 1952 in Schenectady, NY. Beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Roberta (Peck)Capogna. She was raised in Scotia, NY and graduated from Scotia High School.

She was a proud mother to David (Chelsea) Murphy, and an even prouder Grandmother to Lily, Jack and Kaitlyn.  

She was an everyday influence in their lives and did so with joy, laughter, and immense love. She came to be known as “Gramma” by most everyone, and she loved it. She LOVED reading (especially her Bible) and being outside with her grandkids.

She is survived by her brothers; Raymond (Barbara) Capogna, and John Capogna. She was also a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews who all adored their Aunt Lorrie.

Lorraine peacefully lost her battle to cancer on June 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Although her physical presence is deeply missed, her impact will be forever remembered and cherished by those who were lucky enough to feel her energy. Pure love, joy, and the best laugh ever. 

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 25 from 5-8 pm at the Rexford Fire Station, 1601 Rt.146, Rexford, NY.
