Obituary: Nagarajan Srinivasan

October 15, 1940 – September 10, 2025

It is with profound grief we share the demise of Shri Nagarajan, aged 85, who passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. 

Born in Kalappal, Tamil Nadu – India in 1940 to Swaminathan Iyer and Rajalakshmi, he was the youngest of 5 brothers and 5 sisters.  He was adopted very young by Gnanambal, his eldest sister and Srinivasan and served as their only child till their end.

He enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling to places of pilgrimage throughout India and spending time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. In spite of being from a humble background, he had the inborn tendency to help his extended family and ensured they thrived. A man of strong will power and never let go attitude he ensured he had his way for himself, family and the extended family.

He was passionate about Carnatic music and spent his idle time always listening to Bhagavadam and Upanyasam.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61years Rajalakshmi, Son Kirthivasan, Daughter-in-law, Chitra; Daughter Uma, Son-in-law; Sivaskandan, Grandchildren, Ahana, Shriya, Ananya and Sriman and Great grandchildren, Arhan and Krishna. 

Viewing will be held at  the Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel and Creamtorium in Oakwood Cemetery, 186 Oakwood Ave, Troy, NY 12182 on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the Fuenral Service to begin at 2:00 p.m.
