Eleanor Rolfe Holden

Eleanor Rolfe Holden, 91, of Madeira Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025 at The Barrington Assisted Living Facility in Largo, Florida.

Eleanor was born on May 28, 1934, in Lisbon, NY to Homer and Grace Rolfe.  She married David Holden on August 22, 1959, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, NY.  Together they lived in Clifton Park, NY for many wonderful years and wintered in Madeira Beach, FL since 1991.  In 2013, Eleanor made Madeira Beach her permanent home.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg NY, received her Bachelor of Arts in 1956 at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, and in 1959 received her Master of Education at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.  She was a high school history teacher in the Shenendehowa Central Schools District in Clifton Park, NY for many years before retiring in 1991.

Eleanor was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, FL, Sea Towers Women’s Golf League in Madeira Beach, FL, was an avid golfer, reader and bridge player. She’ll be remembered for her amazing stories and jokes told to all.

She is survived by her daughter Jane Tedeschi of Vernon, NJ, grandchildren Jennifer Tedeschi of Philadelphia, PA, and Matthew Tedeschi of Newton, NJ, sister-in-law Eleanora Rolfe and many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, Homer and Grace, her loving husband David J. Holden, son David M. Holden, sisters Anne Rolfe, Mary Heller, Helen O’Brien, Elizabeth Schaeffer, brother Robert Rolfe and brothers-in-law Peter Heller, Lewis Schaeffer and Joseph O’Brien.

A visitation and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at St. Edwards The Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY 12065.  The visitation will be held from 9:30 am – 10:30 am with the funeral mass at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Jonesville Cemetery in Jonesville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made, in memory of Eleanor Holden, to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
