Obituary of Richard A. Bennett, Jr.

Richard A. Bennett Jr., 63, of Rensselaer, New York, passed away on March 26, 2026, at his home, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Rick was born on March 27, 1962, in Medford, Massachusetts to Richard and Janice Bennett. He attended the University of Massachusetts and went on to work as a Civil Engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation for 31 years. Rick enjoyed playing softball, running, skiing, mountain biking, and operating the sound board at church.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Richard Bennett, and his grandparents, Ethel Hunter, Joseph Santos, and Georgianna Santos.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sherry Bennett; his daughter, Kristina Dandrow (Kenneth); his son, Andrew Bennett (Mikala); his mother, Janice Bennett; his brother, Mark Bennett (Lori); his sister, Judi Livingston (Robert); and his nephews, Adam Bennett (Courtney), Jason Bennett, Oliver Livingston, and Benjamin Livingston.

A funeral service will be held at Loudonville Community Church, 374 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 on Tuesday, March 31st at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research in Rick’s memory.

Rick will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
