Obituary of Anthony J. Nardone
Anthony J. “Tony” Nardone, 48, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 3, 2026.
Born in Troy, New York and a proud graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1996, Tony built a life rooted in service, hard work, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Tony was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Troy as a Lock Operator, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. For over 30 years, he also served his community in Emergency Services as a medic with Empire Ambulance, North Greenbush Ambulance Association, Mohawk Ambulance, and the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad. His commitment to helping others extended even further through his service as a firefighter with the Speigletown Volunteer Fire Company, Melrose Volunteer Fire Company, Brunswick #1 Volunteer Fire Company, and most recently with the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company. There, he held many roles, rising to Assistant Chief and serving as a Commissioner on the Board of Fire Commissioners—positions that spoke to both his leadership and the respect he earned from those around him.
Tony had a personality that was truly one of a kind—something everyone who knew him could agree on. He had his own unique way of doing things, and that was part of what made him so special. He lived life fully and passionately, with a love for the things that brought him joy: riding and advocating for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, camping, NASCAR racing, cheering on the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints, cooking and perfecting meals on his smoker, fishing, and spending time on his tractor or operating heavy equipment. He also had a deep appreciation for Holstein cows and draft horses.
Tony’s interests didn’t stop there—he proudly embraced his “nerdy” side, enjoying Star Wars and Harry Potter, and sharing those interests with those around him. But above all else, Tony’s greatest love was his family. The time he spent with them meant everything to him, and he made sure they always knew it.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally (West) Nardone, who stood faithfully by his side for 14 years; his sons, Vincent J. (Tiffany Zennaiter) Nardone and Dominick I. Nardone; and his “pseudoson,” Daniel A. (Bobbie-Sue) Bosclair Jr as well as his parents, John J. Nardone (life partner Deborah Eldridge) and Kathleen (Ainsworth) Nardone. He also leaves behind his wife’s sister Laurie (James) Russell, who he shared his deep love of motorcycles with and in his quiet kind way, opened his home to Sally’s best friend, Tammy.
Tony also leaves behind a cherished chosen family in the Hams: Jason and Tara Ham, his god daughter Rileigh (Derek) McMahon, Joshua Ham, and Rian Ham, as well as his close friends Bryan, John McKnight Jr., Jimmy “Rufus” Hannigan, along with many extended family members, colleagues, and brothers and sisters in emergency services and the fire service.
Relatives and friends are invited to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182 for calling hours on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and to the funeral service on Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Following the funeral home service, interment with an Emergency Services Last Call will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Lansingburgh.
