Shelagh, I am so very sorry for your loss. For some reason it just struck me in my heart. I can not image the sorrow of losing your husband. I will most definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Its a long journey home to his final resting place. Be good to yourself my friend. The green candle I chose is for evergreen. Your love for John is a symbol as evergreen as the tree.

John Ford was the most patient man I have ever met, with a calm energy that I always found comforting. He let us kids call him Papa Ford; to this day that is still how I refer to him. Countless late nights Shona, myself and our friends would come to invade the kitchen and living room and Papa would be sitting reading quietly on the couch. He always greeted us with a smile and a joke or two, and relinquished his comfortable spot on the couch to us kids. Not once did I feel unwelcome in his home. He always made time to chat and was a fount of interesting information. Not only did he support his own children, but he supported and encouraged their friends too. I can truly say he had such a wonderful impact on me and I will carry his memory with me forever.
