John W. Greenwood, 87, of Clifton Park, beloved husband of 65 years of Helene E. Carter Greenwood of Clifton Park, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 3, 2017.

Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Roger Milton and Ruth Laura Derby Greenwood and was a graduate of Mt. Herman School in Mt. Herman, MA, Norwich University where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and then his Masters Degree in Engineering Administration from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Greenwood retired from Reliance Electric Company of Cleveland, OH with whom he had been employed for 41 years as a Sales Manager and had previously been employed by General Electric as a Test Engineer.

John and his wife Helene lived in Clifton Park since 1969 and have been active members of the local community. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, travelling during his retirement years, and singing in the choir.

Beloved husband of Helene, devoted father of Carter (and wife Sandy) Greenwood of Havre de Grace, MD and Scott (and wife Dana) Greenwood of Spokane, WA, cherished grandfather of Jacob Greenwood, also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; Calvin Greenwood and Ann Greenwood Barrows.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home 1550 RT- 9, Clifton Park, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Interment with military honors will be held in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
