Richard "Dickie" Jones posted a condolence

Billy Jenkins was a mountain of men in so many ways that he left a life long aura of goodness for my entire family. For as long as I can remember he and his family we our neighbors in Solvay NY. Basketball folk lore fowled him through his younger days as he played for Coach Bobby Jones at St. Vincent in the old Parochial league. He coached my brothers at St Brigid's during his time at Lemoyne, where he was arguably the best Dolphin player of all time. If my old memory serves me right, he also played a few games with the Syracuse Nats of the NBA. Bill Jenkins, though was much, much more than a basketball legend. He was a pilliar of life in the Solvay and Syracuse area of central NY. A devout family man and catholic, he was the consumate citizen of the turbulent sixties. One memory that I will never forget is when he, along with his family drove me to Sunday 11AM mass,Every Sunday so that I could fulfill my Altar Boy assignments.at St Brigids.I remember when Billy Junior was a little kid tagging along.
As time moved on, we lost physical contact with Bill, but I never lost contact in my mind, great memories of great men you never loose. Heaven has gained a great draft pick, and Billy Jenkins, in his Red and White St.Vincents will excell in all of eternity. Rest in Peace, my friend, mentor and idol. We are all better because of you. Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your honorable patriarch.
The Late Coach Bob Jones,Billy Jones SR,and Danny Jones. The rest of the living Jones Family,,,Reverend Billy Jones,Jill Jones and Dickie Jones. You will be in our prayers forever.

Billy,
I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing. I remember so many good time on Boulder Road, especially how friendly and nice both your parents were. Remember the trip to Canandaigua, the first time I met your dad (and the white towel)?
Though I haven't seen you or your folks in decades, I think of those days fondly.
