Obituary of George David Knowles

George David Knowles, 78, of Rexford, passed away October 4, 2022 at Albany Medical Center.

 

Born on June 22, 1944 in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of the late George H. and Julia (Wait) Knowles. He was a 1961 graduate of Gloversville High School. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and University at Albany, respectively.

 

He dedicated his career to the field of civil and environmental engineering and waste water management until his retirement as Principal of DCK Services, LLC in December 2014.

 

On February 8, 1969, he married the love of his life, Hazel Ann Martin, in Clifton Park. They were married for over 45 years and built the home of their dreams in Lake Luzerne, NY, where they lived until Hazel's passing in 2014. On December 21, 2015, David married Theresa A. Eschler. They shared their love of dogs, especially Mimi and Sophie.

 

He enjoyed genealogy, boating and camping at Schroon Lake, gardening, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also served as a member of Shriners International.

 

David was predeceased by his wife, Hazel, and sister, Laura Knowles-Coursin. Survivors include his wife, Theresa, three sons, Graham and his wife, Lisa; Shawn and his wife, Deidrie; Craig and his wife, Kristy; four grandchildren, Madison and Timothy Knowles, and Juliauna and Angelina Sampson; his sister, Patricia Viola, and brother, Richard Knowles, and many loving nieces and nephews. 

 

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 1-4PM at Park Manor Hotel Ballroom, 7 Northside Drive Clifton Park, for a time of remembrance and fellowship. A private graveside funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

Burial of the urn will be in the Bleecker Cemetery.

 

A special thank you is extended to the doctors and nurses in the emergency department and B2 ICU at the Albany Medical Center for the exceptional and compassionate care given to David and his family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home in Clifton Park.
