Obituary of Mary Eggleston

Dateline: Halfmoon, New York

Mary Eggleston of Halfmoon, NY passed away due to a heartbreaking accident on Thursday, November 3, 2022. She was born in Cohoes, NY on April 25,1942 and was the daughter of the late Euclide and Yvonne (Dubuc) Giroux.  Mary was the beloved wife and best friend of Lee Eggleston.  They were married on December 1, 1973.  She was the exceptional Mom of Renee Russell of Saratoga Springs, NY and Gary Eggleston of Anchorage, Alaska; cherished Memere of Adam Lee Russell of Saratoga Springs, NY; sister of Robert (Kathy) Giroux and the late Raymond Giroux, Richard “Rip” Giroux, Donald Giroux, Joan Boivin (Alan) and Thomas Giroux (Carol); best lifelong friend of Peg and Bill Carr;  also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary loved working in her flower garden, planting trees, arranging outdoor seasonal decorations, creating displays that were the match of any professional landscaper. A lover of all four seasons and all the changes that came with them. Watching the birds at her feeders, enjoying a new fresh snowfall and spending time by the water were some of the simple things in life that she enjoyed the most.

Mary was a natural athlete who always put the enjoyment of the game above competition. She loved to walk. Especially with anyone who could keep up with her. And when walking was too slow bicycling did the trick.

One of her favorite past times was making a baby smile or a child laugh. Something for which she showed an exceptional talent.

She loved a good, simple meal with a nice glass of wine or a cold beer and was a decent cook. But she never met a kitchen she couldn’t easily walk past.

Mary knew how to enjoy life, but never hesitated to put the well-being of those she loved, especially her family, above her own. Her gifts for observation and listening proved invaluable in helping others. She was uniquely her own person. People will remember her most for her laugh and its power to improve the day to any who heard it.

Most everyone who met her liked her. Most everyone who spent time with her LOVED her. Because you ALWAYS felt better after doing so.

Mary was one of a kind in the BEST possible way.

Services will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022 at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Visitation hours will be 10am -12pm, followed by a memorial service until 1pm. Dress will be relaxed, business casual and in honor of Mary’s fun-loving spirit cheerful colors are encouraged.

A Celebration of Life gathering starting at 1:30pm will be held at the American Legion Post 1450, 275 Grooms Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065. ALL are invited to attend to celebrate Mary’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Saratoga Hospital Cancer Patient Fund, 211 Church Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 to support individuals facing a cancer diagnosis, an issue close to Mary’s heart due to the loss of relatives and friends close to her.
