Obituary of Kristie L. (Briggs) Prouty

Please share a memory of Kristie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kristie L. (Briggs) Prouty, 52, of Mount Dora, FL was taken into the arms of the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL, following a long illness.  Receiving the absolute best care there and surrounded by loving family, listening to one of her favorite songs as she calmly and peacefully drew her last breaths.

Born January 29, 1970 in Cambridge, NY to John Briggs and Juanita (Bornt) Briggs Brown, she was the eldest of their children together. Her parents both eventually remarried and added to her siblings. Kristie received her education at schools in New York and Vermont. She worked as a broker and dispatcher in the trucking and transportation industry for many years and was very well respected.

She married the love of her life, Francis “Frank” Prouty and shared a beautiful, fulfilling life together.  She cofounded the Xtreme Racing Team with her husband; which won a championship and still holds the record for the most consecutive wins at Ocala Raceway.  Kristie enjoyed an occasional night out to listen to live performances of country music. She loved her family most of all and always did her very best to make sure everyone was doing okay and was taken care of, right up until the end.

Kristie is survived by Frank, her husband of 35 years; sons; Kristopher (Sara Cornelius) and Kurt (Jennifer); her brother Keith (Tonya) Briggs, sister Heather (Joe) Zugzda; and siblings Eric, Stephanie, Jamie, Diane and Donna; and the lights of her life, her grandchildren; Zachary, Kyle and Alyssa Prouty and Ethan Scroble; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so very many people she loved as family.

She was predeceased by her parents, step father and her brother, Todd Briggs.

At Kristie’s request, there will be a private family viewing at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2023 with her cremation to follow.  A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park, Tavares, FL 32778, in memory of Kristie L. Prouty.
