Obituary of Walter D. Moran

Walter D. Moran, 92, of Speigletown, beloved husband of Paula Hebert Moran, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.

 

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Francis and Helen Cowen Moran. He was a graduate of Troy High School.

 

Walter was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. 

 

He retired from Niagara Mohawk as a Warehouseman in Clifton Park in 1994. He had previously worked at International Harvester in Menands and Schaefers Brewery.  

                                                                                                                                                          

Walter was a communicant and member of the Men’s Club at the former St. Bonaventure’s, now Transfiguration Parish. He was active in several bowling leagues at Hilltop Bowl.

 

Walter was the beloved husband of Paula Hebert Moran, whom he married on September 14, 1957; devoted father of Paula (James) Weglarz, Michele (Robert) Peplowski and Kathleen (Tom Fera) Moran; brother of John “Jack” (Patricia) Moran, Margaret “Peggy” (late, Robert) Larkin, late, Francis “Frank” (late, Mary) Moran, late James (late, Rita) Moran, late, Daniel Moran, late, William (Mary) Moran, late, Edward (late, Theresa) Moran and late, Shirley (late, Frank) Burton; cherished grandfather of Eric Weglarz, Alex (Erica Lehnert) Weglarz, Samantha (Bryan) Bartczak, Carley (Will) Peplowski, Elisse (Jamie) Brown and great grandfather of Serenity Sage Weglarz. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 30th at Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church in Speigletown), 50 Hillview Rd., Troy, NY 12182.

 

Relatives and friends may call at the John J, Sanvidge Funeral Home (Corner of 115th street and 4th Avenue)  from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 29th.

 

Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 ST JUDE PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, to Ronald McDonald House, RMHC of the Capital Region, 139 S. Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 or to the Center for Disability Services, 314 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12205  in memory of Walter D. Moran.
