Obituary of Linda J. Kempster
Linda J. Kempster, 79 of Troy passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Cohoes, She was a sibling to many brothers and sisters: Harrold Edmonds, Tommy Edmonds, Pete Edmonds; and her late siblings: Bobby & Jimmy Edmonds, Juanita Kablinski, Lilian Morin, and Joey Edmonds. Linda attended Troy High School and worked as a machine operator for Thermal Products in Menands.
Linda liked spending time with family and friends as she would host cook outs during the summer holidays and throw Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. She also liked cooking on Sundays; everyone loved her southern cooking especially her fried chicken, rice, cabbage, fresh collard greens, corn bread, sweet potatoes, baked mac and cheese, sweet potato pies and pineapple upside down cakes. Linda was that angel where if there was anyone who was hungry, she would use food to show love and welcomed anyone for a good dish. Linda also had little hobbies like creating Easter baskets, going to the breakfast and coffee club at the Kennedy Towers, playing Bingo, doing art crafts, completing crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite shows, Steve Harvey and Jeopardy.
Linda was the devoted and beloved mother of Antoinette Kempster, Charles “Charlie” Terry, Daniele Simon (Walter Simon), Barbara Youngs (Kenny Youngs), Anthony “Tony” Kempster and her late daughter Patricia Terry; Cherished grandmother to 22; great grandmother to 11; great, great grandmother to 1 and an aunt to 11 nieces and nephews.
Going Home Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182 (at the corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue, Lansingburgh). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 186 Oakwood Ave., Troy, NY 12182.
