Obituary of Richard W. Sousie

Richard W. Sousie, 72, of Pownal, VT, previously a resident of Hoosick Falls, NY and Troy, NY, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2023 at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY.

Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Floyd and Charlotte Thomas Sousie.

Richard received his Honorable Discharge for his service from 1974 to 1978 as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the expert Rifle Badge.

Mr. Sousie had been a truck driver with CAPTRANS in Schenectady, NY.

Richard was funny, sarcastic, loved telling jokes, enjoyed go-kart racing, his family and friends, travelling and was a fan of NASCAR.

Devoted father of Candy M. Sousie, Floyd Sousie and Richard T. Sousie, loving brother of Robin (David) Ayotte, Kevin (Susan) Sousie, Timothy Sousie, Kelly Sousie, the late Thomas Sousie and the late Carol (Howard) Radley, cherished grandfather of Brandon Robilotti, Mickela Sousie, Peyton Sousie, Jayden Sousie, Aniyah Redcross, Dylan Reynolds, Donna Sousie and Derek Sousie, great grandfather of Raiden Gutierrez and was eagerly anticipating the birth of his second great grandchild, also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the Corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.

The Sousie family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctor’s nurses and staff on the D-3 Unit at Albany Medical Center Hospital for their loving care provided.

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of Richard W. Sousie.
