Obituary of George Samuel Grock

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George Samuel Grock, 84, of Halfmoon, NY, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Elizabeth; his siblings William (Billy), David, Judi and Marcia; and in-laws John and Tina Badi; and son Ricki McIntyre. He is survived by his wife Sandi; his children Jami (Allison) McIntyre, Kimberley (Edward) Kellman, Georgette (Chuck) Herrick, Stoney (Brenda) Grock, and Tina Kerr (Todd Ellebracht); his grandchildren Jasen Herrick, Travis Kellman, Krysten Kellman, Jake Kellman, Nicole Bonenfant, Jenna Grock, Tesla Whitaker, Jennifer Harris, Alina (Shawn) Quackenbush, Kiya (Tyler) Shattuck, Michael Kerr, Noah Kerr, Lauren Ellebracht and Zachary Kerr and 16 great grand-children; his siblings Robert Grock, Barbara Dewitt, Maureen Pearce, Duane Grock, and Nancy Fosmire; and countless nieces and nephews.

George was born July 27, 1939, in Albany, NY, and grew up in Rensselaer, N.Y. In May of 1958, George became a Private for the US Army. After his stint in the Army, George and his brothers formed a band called The Grock Brothers where he sang vocals, played the drums, guitar, saxophone, harmonica and was a world-class yodeler. They soon became local legends - for more than just their music.

In 1971, George moved to Halfmoon, NY, with his family where he opened his own business as a TV repair man; know to the locals as Grock’s TV but he fixed more than just TVs. He could fix (or build) anything and was a true craftsman when it came to working with his hands. In his spare time, he enjoyed model building, flea markets and playing the guitar.

George and Sandi lived in Huntsville, TX, from 1990-2008 where he developed an obsession for building and flying model airplanes. But his true passions were family and music! Singing and playing guitar with his family was truly his happy place! Upon his return to Halfmoon, NY in 2008 you could always find George surrounded by family with guitar in hand.

He was loved deeply, will live forever in our hearts, and will truly be missed. We are comforted knowing that George Grock knows who George Grock is again.
