Catherine “Cathy” Waters John, 85, of Ballston Lake passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at her home in the loving care of her family. 

The oldest of four children, Cathy was born on August 24, 1938 in Troy, NY.  She cherished the time she spent during her childhood years at the farm with extended family.  Cathy was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School and Catholic Central High School, Class of 1957, in Troy.

After marrying, Cathy and her husband Michael laid down roots in Clifton Park, NY where she lived for more than 50 years. She was a devoted mother of four children, and provided them a steady and reliable influence. Cathy was an incredibly selfless mother, and always gave to her children.

Cathy enjoyed bowling, playing bocce, the beach, crocheting, reading, snowmen, puzzles, and most of all, her cats. She also enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Cathy was an active communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake where she volunteered many hours and enjoyed working the Fall Harvest.  She loved being around children and worked at Shenendehowa Central School District as a teacher’s aide for many years.

Cathy is predeceased by her parents, Joseph L. and Dorothy Mabel (Quantock) Waters; her husband, S. Michael John; her sister, Linda Dorfner; and her son, Kevin T. John.  Cathy is survived by her brother, Lawrence G. Waters and wife Margaret of Port Orange, FL; her sister, Dorothy Thompson and husband Ed of Port Richey, FL; her sons, Michael A. John and wife Maria of Mercerville, NJ, Mark C. John of Saratoga Springs, NY, and David J. John and wife Meera of Lawrenceville, NJ; her daughter, Lisa Germano of Boston, MA; her grandchildren, Gabriella John, Dr. Alexandra John, Michael John and his fiancé Sydney Slavik, Carla John, Gregory John, Isabella John, Sophia John, Ava John, and Alanis John; and her great-granddaughter, Afeara Cobb.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 10-11am at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 US-9, Round Lake, NY 12151, followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial, which will begin at 11am, and interment at Jonesville Cemetery, Clifton Park, New York.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or Corpus Christi Church in Cathy’s memory.
