Obituary of Scott D. Colbert, Esq.
Scott D. Colbert, Esq., 67, of Speigletown (Town of Schaghticoke) entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Edmund C. (late, Darlene) Colbert, Sr. and the late Gladys M. Haverland (late, James T.) Ward.
Scott was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, earned his BA from SUNY Oneonta and his Juris Doctorate from Western New England University School of Law.
Scott practiced as a self-employed Attorney-At-Law and was a retired Rensselaer County Assistant Conflict Defender. Notably, he proudly served as a law guardian in Rensselaer County Family Court.
He loved motorcycle riding and coffee with great friends, Ardo, Armen and Greg. Most of all he loved his son Rian, wife Samantha, and above all else, playing with his granddaughter Lucie.
Scott was a member of the Rensselaer County Bar Association and had been an elected member of the Lansingburgh School District Board.
Devoted father of Christopher “Rian” (Samantha) Colbert, cherished grandfather and “Poppy” to Lucie Colbert, loving brother to Rhonda (Bob) Hohn, Edmund C. “Butch” (Tammy) Colbert and Cathy (John) Johnson, dear uncle to Kelly Marie Colarusso, as well as Robert and Robin Gelina, Colton, Dalton and Hunter Johnson and Hannah Steinmetz.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at White-Sanvidge Funeral Home, 58 Leversee Rd. (RT-40 in Speigletown) Troy, NY 12182 and to the burial of ashes on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterford.
Scott’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to his legal colleagues as well as their many friends who are like family, for supporting them during this difficult time.
