Obituary of Rolf J. Gaeding

Rolf Juergen Gaeding, 78, of Halfmoon, beloved husband for 50 years to “Kathy” Kathryn Lee Bradley Gaeding of Halfmoon, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Heinrich and Annita Ropcke Gaeding and was a graduate of Copaigue High School and Hofstra University where he earned a BS in Engineering.

Mr. Gaeding had been a private Consultant with CMA Consulting Services in Latham.

Rolf was proud to be part of putting the first men on the Moon in 1969, was a Pilot, loved to golf, reading, politics, was a master of fixing things - a natural Mr. Fix-it, play the piano and computer games with his grandchildren, served as Website Master for the HOA at Sheldon Hills, was a faithful member of Shenendehowa United Methodist Church where e enjoyed worshipping, the camaraderie of his friends and making the coffee every Sunday for Coffee Hour at the Church. Most of all he loved time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Kathy, devoted father of Carrie Ann (Chris) Arena and Kirsten Gaeding, cherished PopPop of Maxwell Arena, Laurel Arena and Isabel Gaeding, brother of the late Heinrich (Ingrid) Gaeding, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service for Rolf on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Shenendehowa United Methodist Church 971 NY-146. Clifton Park, NY 12065 as well as to the reception which will follow in the fellowship hall.
