Obituary of Mary R. Costa

Mary R. Costa, 88, formerly of Raymond Rd. died on Monday June 12, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital.  She was born on Sept. 15, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella Castiglione Mosca.  In early years, Mary was a cashier for the Robert Hall Clothing store in Latham and had also been involved for over 30 years in the family’s horse business, Costa Stables.  She managed the books and helped with the horses at home.  She enjoyed watching and rooting for the New York Yankees, especially her favorite player, Derek Jeter.   Mary was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa.  She was the beloved wife of the late John Costa; devoted mother of Tony Costa, and Vincenza “Enza” Shellard; grandmother of Jason  (Alicia Saunders) Shellard; great grandmother of Emily Shellard and Salvatore Saunders; Sister of Rose Mosca Strack and the late John, James, Salvatore and Joseph Mosca; sister-in-law of Joan (John) McCartan Mosca; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heading for Home, a racehorse retraining and adoption center,  683 Rt. 29 Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Funeral will be held Friday morning at 9;30 from St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Thursday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065. Interment will be in St., Peter’s Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY.
