Obituary of Anna J. McDermott

Anna June Mosley McDermott, 96, of South Troy, beloved wife of the late Robert W. McDermott, peacefully entered into eternal life in the comfort of her home and in the loving care of her family on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Born and educated in Catskill, New York, she also studied cosmetology at the Austin School of Beauty (where she learned how to roll a mean home perm). She was the eldest daughter of the late Martin Mosley and the late Versa Leona Jeune Mosley Spence.

In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Mrs. McDermott was the Policy Writing Supervisor at the Hartford Insurance Company in Delmar. At a time when women rarely entered management, she was overseeing a staff of typists tasked with assembling insurance contracts.  

She was an avid reader, an adorable flirt, loved to crochet, but her true passion was taking care of her loved ones.  

Devoted mother of Versa (the late, James J.) Vink, cherished grandmother of Dawn Vink (Bruce Mereness) and Sherry Stevens (Preston), adored great grandmother of Spence and Parker Mereness and Daphne and Hunter Stevens, also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her siblings; Robert Mosley, William Spence, Martha Mosley Ingram and Gertrude Mosley.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and to the Funeral Service that day at 1:00 p.m. both at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180.

Interment will follow in Bloomingrove Rural Cemetery, North Greenbush.
