Obituary of William T. Maloney

William T. “Bill” Maloney, 91, of Cohoes, beloved husband for over 65 years to the late, Concetta T. “Connie” Maloney, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded and in the loving comfort of his family at home on Friday, November 22, 2024.

 

Born in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Blanche Poliquin Maloney was educated in the Cohoes Catholic schools. He proudly served from 1950-1954 in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War having served aboard the USS Darby.

 

Mr. Maloney retired from the Watervliet Arsenal where he had been a Gauge Designer. He had been awarded two patents, developed six prototypes (patents pending at retirement) and was named the Watervliet Arsenal Man of the year during his very distinguished career there. He began there in the Watervliet Arsenal Apprentice Machinist Program in 1955.

 

Bill was a lover of all types of music, having sang on national radio as a young boy and would serenade anyone who was in his company. It was typical of Bill to greet you with a hello in song. He truly enjoyed fishing, golfing, completing Sudoku daily, Racino, most enjoyed watching drum and bugle corps competition. Bill was an avid Notre Dame fan and would regularly travel there to games. Bill was also a Siena College Basketball season ticket holder. Bill and Connie were attached at the hip and never missed a Siena boys or girls basketball game. His greatest love and joy was his family. To Bill, family meant everything.

 

Bill was very dedicated to his Catholic faith and Church having been a present communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh, where he and Connie were married on December 11, 1954 and previously in his hometown, at the now former St. Agnes Church in Cohoes.

 

Devoted father of Lisa Delaney of Waterford, Carol (Terry) Ratigan of Palmetto, FL, Patricia (Khalid) Dajani of Houston, TX, Jennifer Maloney Swantek of TX, Michael (JoAnna) Maloney and Jack (Johanna) Maloney, both of Cohoes, and Kevin (Deb) Maloney of Halfmoon, cherished grandfather of Billy (Tiffany) Maloney, Christopher Maloney, Shawn Maloney, John Maloney, Thomas Maloney, Maggie (Tom) Ebenoch, Nicholas Hopeck, Paul Hopeck, Kevin Maloney, Molly Maloney, Brian Maloney, Michael Maloney, Lindsey (Bill) Heslin, twins Noah and Adam Dajani and Aurora Swantek, adored great grandfather of Meredith Maloney and Laurel Maloney, Alana Maloney, Norah Heslin, Paige Emery Hopeck, Concetta “Etta” Ebenoch and Callan Maloney, dearest brother of Rose (late, Kenneth) Petronis, the late, Kathleen (late, Ted) Peletier, the late, Rev. Rufino Maloney, the late, Joseph (late, Mary Ann) Maloney and the late, Patricia Maloney, also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Bill’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, 25-115th St., Troy, NY 12182 and to the interment which will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy with military honors.

 

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours.

 

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Augustine’s Church Preservation Fund, (address above), in memory of William T. “Bill” Maloney.
