Obituary of Bernice A. DeChiro
Bernice A. Seduski DeChiro, 89, of Troy, formerly of Lansingburgh and Cohoes, peacefully entered into eternal life in the loving care of her daughter Ellen and the support team at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Born in Cohoes, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Helen Jagielski Seduski and was a graduate of Cohoes High School, Class of 1953.
Ms. DeChiro had been employed at the former New York Telephone Company in Albany. She also spent many years volunteering at the Unity House of Troy.
Bernice enjoyed beach days spent at Babcock Lake. She loved to read romance novels or any good book. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, with a great love of her favorite player, Derek Jeter. Bernice took great pride in supporting local eateries as an amateur foodie, never turning down a good dessert.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grand dogs, always spoiling them with treats or toys. She enjoyed shopping trips, baking, or making Sunday dinners spent with her family.
Devoted mother of Ellen DeChiro (Brian Wachtel), two sons, her sister Mildred Seduski, her brother, the late Edward Seduski, her beloved nieces, Tonya Murray (Christopher) of Concord, NC, and the late Kristen Seduski, also survived by her loving grand dog Finley.
In keeping with Bernice’s wishes, private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182. .
On behalf of Bernice, Ellen would like to extend her sincere appreciation to all of the past and present staff at Van Rensselaer Manor, who treated Bernice like their own family over the years, and to Samaritan Hospital ER/ICU/PCU staff who cared for her during her recent illness.
