Obituary of Araceli B. Hurley

Please share a memory of Araceli to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Araceli Hurley, known to friends as “Roz” and to some as “Sam”, passed away on July 20, 2017 after a chronic blood condition turned suddenly worse and rapidly progressed.  She was 61 years old.  Roz was born and raised in San Francisco, CA.  In 2007, after quite a bit of moving around the country; Roz and Jim opened a Home Instead Senior Care office in Schenectady, NY.  Roz has been the heart of a business that has helped thousands of seniors in the Capital District over the past 10 years.  Her father, Roque Aurelio and her mother, Jewell (Pratt) Aurelio are waiting for her in heaven.  Roz is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jim Hurley, her son Alan McPheters, Daughter Megan Facteau (Kevin) and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Cadence and Bryson Facteau.  She also leaves behind a sister, Ellen (Pratt) Schumer and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roz asked that there be no services and that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to her Alzheimer’s Association Walk Team by going to roz-hurley.com.  She had a long standing passion for education, advocacy and support of Alzheimer’s Disease.  Roz has touched so many lives in so many ways.  She will be missed.
