Obituary of Kathleen (Walsh) Curran

Please share a memory of Kathleen (Walsh) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen Curran, 87, formerly of Casablanca Ct in Clifton Park, left this world to be with loved ones in the Kingdom of God on 4 August 2017.  Born one of 11 children in Springarden, Ballinlough, Co. Roscommon, Ireland.  Kathleen followed her beloved sister Mary to the US as a young woman where she met and married her husband of 53 years, Edward (Ned) Curran. Together they built the life they dreamed raising seven children, participating in community and church activities and remaining constantly connected to family in Ireland.  Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Ned, her parents Patrick and Cecelia (Mulkeare) Walsh, and her beloved siblings, Tom, Patrick, John, Frank and William Walsh, Mary Quinn, Sheila Callaghan, Angela Walsh and Freda Matthews.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Kevin (Holly) Curran of Peoria, AZ, Michael Curran of Queensbury, Patricia (Keith) Walls of Marlboro, MA, Maureen Curran of North Reading, MA, Edward Curran of Cohoes, “little” Kathleen Curran of Halfmoon, and Eileen Soldani of Clifton Park.  She also leaves nine grandchildren who will miss her enormously: Brynn (Joe) Tornabene, Meghan Montgomery, Tyler Kruger, Claudia, Brendan and Colin Curran, Nicholas and Brandon Soldani and Eva Altvater as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family in the US, Ireland and England.  She is also survived by her youngest sister, Anastasia (Tom) Kelly in the UK.

Kathleen enjoyed her calling as a homemaker and mother and spent many satisfying years caring for children in her home. She dedicated more than 25 years as a volunteer at Schuyler-Ridge Nursing home where she was honored as Volunteer of the Year.  Kathleen and Ned were active members at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Clifton Park for more than 40 years.  Kathleen was an avid walker enjoying the beauty and peace of her neighborhood on her daily walks during which time she communicated with God often bringing her rosary beads on the journey.   She was very proud to have received a NY state driver’s license in the 1980’s which was a huge accomplishment for her – sincerest apologies to any neighbors whose mailboxes came to an untimely end during that era.
