Marcia, Lisa, and Cindy,
This has to be a very hard time. Please find comfront in family and friends, Don had many. I first met Don at SUMC preschool, then we worked together on SUMC's Finance Committees for years. His nickname of Finance Minister fit him to a tea, faithful, loving, and caring.
Over the years we had many conversations and it as clear how much he loved his girls and how proud he was of his grandkids! Don had a way of making everyone around him feel special and important. I will miss Don a lot and will retell the stories of his many adventures. What a amazing life he lived!
Prayers of comfront and peace to your family,
Beth Thayer

Tara and I are sorry to hear of the passing of Don. Please accept our deepest sympathies. He was a extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We had the pleasure working side by side each other, and he could keep a hectic moment light with his witty humor. The Benton/Carley Families are always warm and welcoming. We wish you peace during this difficult time. God Bless.

Dear Marcia, Cindy and Lisa,
my deepest sympathies go to you and the entire family. I will remember Don as a great person who was a strong, supportive figure in my life. I think back fondly to growing-up across the street from you all, sharing so many memories and good times. I remember Don's great sense of humor, his quiet strength, and his wisdom. We are all so lucky to have Don in our lives.
My sister sends her deep love and respect for Don as well. We will miss him.

Don Benton, since my earliest memories, was one of the kindest family members that had ever graced my life. I always looked forward to birthdays and Christmas , when I would get to see him up in New York, or call him if he and his wife, Marcia, sent me a gift all the way down to Georgia. Some of my favorite Christmas memories were up in New York, him making jokes with us and playing board games. After my family moved south, I didn't get to see him much except for those few times we went to Destin, Florida on vacation with him, but him and his family always cheered me on when I would tell them about school and how I was doing. They even came to my High School Graduation all the way from New York!
I heard about Don's cancer years ago from my mother, Julie, who is Don's niece. He was one of the last people I thought of it happening to. I was stunned to hear. My mom mentioned he probably didn't have long.
But he went on. He fought back against it. He stayed strong for his family, and I admire him so much for that. I wish i could have been there to say goodbye to him, to tell him how much he helped me be the person I am.
Marcia, Lisa, Cindy, I know my parents are there with you, but please know that my spirit is with them too. Let me know if I can do anything to help, even if it just someone to talk to.
Don, may your spirit show bright in the next stage of your journey, just as it has touched all of us in life.
Goodbye, Don.

Best uncle ever! He taught me the importance of family, the golden rule, patience, unconditional love and how to keep a Monopoly game going for a week! His advice was always from the heart and what you needed to hear at the time. He was always the life of the party, our best chauffeur to our many adventures, and projected a great sense of humor. He went out of his way to make sure everyone around him was taken care of! Truly a blessing to anyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone whose lives he touched! I take comfort in KNOWING that I will see him again in Heaven. Where there is much grief, there is much love! Until we see you again... Julie and the Moore Family
