Obituary of Marie Rose Lysogorski
Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Rose Lysogorski, 92, of Johnson City, formerly of Troy, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Wilson Hospital. She was born in Troy, NY, the daughter of the late James and Mary “Polly” Doyle. She was predeceased by her brother, Laurence Doyle, her dear aunt Molly Schlegel, her husband of 60 years, Joseph W. Lysogorski and her cousin Judith Carpenter. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and William Flynn of Johnson City; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Flynn of Binghamton; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Katherine, and Daniel Flynn; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marie was a first-generation American born to English and Irish parents who left Europe after the First World War. She was raised on Tenth street in Troy and graduated from Catholic Central High in 1943. Like many of this “great generation,” what was lacking in finances was more than made up for in family and a strong faith. Marie worked after high school in the office of Cluett's where she developed a lifelong friendship with Lois McCrohan. Upon marrying Joseph, Marie became a dedicated homemaker as well as caregiver to her aging parents. Marie’s life was joyfully spent with family and serving the Catholic communities of St. Patrick’s, St. Michael’s, St. Augustine’s and the Polish Community Center in the Troy area. In her last years she lived with her daughter and son-in-law close to her grand and great-grandchildren, enjoying the fruits of a life well lived.
Friends will be received at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Monday October 17, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 am.
The funeral procession will form 10:30 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery on Middletown Road in Waterford.
