Obituary of Shirley Frances Spada

      Shirley Frances (Palmer) Spada, 83, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 suddenly following a prolonged illness.  She was born in Barre, VT on February 26, 1936 and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1954. She married her husband Arthur A. Spada on November 20, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She worked at the U.S. Army Watervliet Arsenal as an Executive Secretary for ten years (1972 – 1981). She was a Special Education Assistant at Shenendehowa High School from 1986 - 1988.

     She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur A. Spada, of  63 years who died on April 23, 2019.  She was the devoted mother of Lou Anne Spada of Beaufort, SC, Lynn Marie (Bill) Thompson of Fairfax, VA, Mary Jo (Erika) Spada of Santa Cruz, CA, Theresa Jean (Nick) Pappas of Waterford, NY, and Kim Elisa (David) Gibson of San Antonio, TX; daughter of the late Roy Hopson Palmer and Doris Metevier Stefanazzi; sister of Phyllis (Al) Cardiello, Beverly (Tony) Patrowski, Norma (Lew)Baisden, Patti (Joe) Ottati, Donald (Ellen) Palmer, Alton (Patty) Palmer, Richard Stefanazzi and the late Dorothy Jaskola, Ronald (Lois) Palmer, and Robert “Bobby” Palmer; cherished grandmother of Tiffany Ann Young, 2LT Erin Connors, and Sean Watson; great grandmother of Nicklas Whitten; survived by her sister-in-laws Mickey La Grego and Ponnie Harre and many nieces and nephews.

     A celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday at 12:30 pm in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

     Interment will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
