Obituary of Amy E. Peele

Amy E. Peele, 89, of Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and former Clifton Park resident died on Friday, December 9, 2016 at her residence after a long illness. She was born on Feb. 5, 1927 in Westport, NY and was the daughter of the late William and Bridget McCole Smith. Amy was educated in the Westport School system and was the wife of the late William A. Peele, who she married on Sept. 24, 1946. She retired from the New York Telephone Co. in Albany after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is the beloved mother of Diane VanDusen and William (Jackie) Peele; sister of the late Jack (Louise) Smith, Robert (Elsie) Smith, Lyman Bigelow, Hattie Sayre and Anna Holloway; cherished grandmother of Jessica Stafford, Jared (Erin) VanDusen, Jennifer Cox, Courtney Cox and Amy Shapiro-VanDusen; great grandmother of William Cox, Caitlin Cox, Shannon Cox, Kristen Cox, Penny Shapiro-VanDusen and Rachael Crose; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Jonesville Cemetery, Jonesville, NY.
